I like it when the single parts of my outfit all tell their own story – the tiny Herschel backpack you see on these pics is exactly one of these pieces: I brought it along from Lisbon back in fall. We found it at the very, very end of our trip to Portugal in a small boutique in a tiny Lisbon street. Actually, we were already on our way to pick up our car from the parking garage, going directly to the airport when I begged the bf to check out this little boutique with me. And suddenly there it was: The practical, light, goes-with-everything backpack that I had always wanted! …and in the end, it didn’t turn out half as practical as I had hoped. Back in Berlin I had to realize that the backpack I had so madly fallen in love with was… well… white. And we all know what happens with white things in the dirty streets of Berlin: They stain, they scuff, but they also put some much needed light into a city where the only colour that’s considered fashionable seems to be black.
And by the way – just in the same way that I like my outfit to tell a story – I like to answer “oh these… well, they’re second hand”, whenever someone asks me about my shoes. Yes, that’s right, most of the stuff you see around here is either old, bought second hand, vintage or – if it has to be new – made fair and vegan. Most of all these options I love second hand – it simply is the most sustainable way to shop and finding unique clothes that no-one else will have is almost guaranteed!
