The best coat on planet earth. At least for now. Despite my constant raving about how much fun it is to shop (and live) more sustainably and how much I love thrifted and vintage clothes, it isn’t always easy to get exactly what you want. I have most recently experienced this while searching for the perfect between-seasons coat: I wanted it to be second hand or – if it really had to be a new one – to be produced fair, sustainable and vegan.
Sounds easy enough in today’s world? Not if your ambitions in terms of style are equally high. Or if you’re super petite like me. Thrift stores offered nothing that came remotely close to what I wanted – quite possibly because when you’ve got my proportions, you learn quite fast that if you ever find a coat that fits, you can n e v e r e v e r let it go. Never. So after a lot of searching, I have settled for something below the standards I had initially set. Which means that my new ASOS Petite coat isn’t super beautiful – at least it’s vegan and free of wool and it fits without any alteration. So for now, the search is over (with a bit of a disillusioning result) and I still have some time to find the perfect winter coat – at least I hope so!
Have you found you perfect between-seasons coat already? Or do you have any insider tips for fair and sustainable, vegan winter coats that are not out of a twenty-something’s budget?
