Seems like lots of designers were influenced by by eastern tile floors this season: geometric and floral inspired prints found themselves of flowy maxi dresses, palazzo pants, shorts and shirt dresses at Escada, Louis Vuitton and Saloni, among others.
The new thing about florals isn’t that they are there (because they are there every season), but how they are realised. For resort 2016, elegant blooms await us, distributed evenly on the designs of brands like Diane von Furstenberg, Anna Sui, Co and Rodebjer and harmonising with the flowy cuts. Of course, the influence of the 70s and bohemian styles comes through in the florals as well, making us long for spring.
Usually, when resort collections hit the stores, we are in deepest winter and daydream about summer heat and sunshine the most. Or maybe just a short trip to the South Seas. And this is exactly what we crave when we see the tropical prints shown at Fendi or Proenza Schouler. We already have a few destinations in mind – where would you wanna go?
One of my personal highlights this season was the comeback of the colour orange. Shades ranged from dark, wintery tones like cinnamon to warm, sunny orange hues that makes us dream about joy-filled summer days.
