Seeing that Phoebe English is pretty new to the London Fashion Week circus, I honestly didn’t know much about her. What I saw at first sight, though, is that she has totally mastered the art of layering. The British designer is putting a strong focus on surface in her unique designs, using forgotten and rarely-used techniques, mixing silky fabrics with netting, soft tulle, embroidery and shiny vinyl to make up a strong and impressive collection. In terms of colour, Phoebe English made good use of the deepest black for fall/winter 2015, with the occasional dash of white, nude and steel grey mixed in. What made me fall for it personally was the mix of feminine elements like short and sculpted sleeves with wide, voluminous and even masculine elements, literally encasing the bare-faced models.
For me, Phoebe English is definitely one of the most promising newcomers at LFW these years – what do you guys think of her designs?
