Oh so retro – again! Just like Tory Burch (and so, so many other designers this season), Giambattista Valli’s sister line Giamba has borrowed a lot from the likes of Biba and other Swinging London icons – not only with his choice of babydoll dresses, but also with his lively floral prints, funky mongolian furs and unique Art Nouveau patterns.
We all know that Giambattista Valli has mastered the art of feminine dressing, but with Giamba, he shows that he knows how to appeal to a more youthful – and playful – type of customer as well. Pastel pinks, lilac and burgundy dominate the collection, but Valli doesn’t fail to take a nod to the recent utilitarian trend as well, in the shape of army green parkas and capes. Skater style slip-ons lend the collection a modern vibe, and patterned platform sandals topped off with patterned black tights and effortless, laid-back braided hairstyles round out the collection to make it a girly master piece – in my humble opinion, at least.
