Becoming the best person you can be – step by step: among a lot of other things, for me this means trying to stay away from sweatshop-made clothes as much as I can. I plan on making this a top priority within the next year, starting right now. And as we all know, ‘right now’ means cyber weekend discounts until Monday! I have scouted the internet for you and put together a list of the very best fair trade, sweatshop-free and – mostly – also sustainable and eco-friendly picks to shop this weekend (and beyond). ♥
Matt & Natt – 30% off selected lines:
As a vegan and eco-conscious accessory brand, Matt & Nat has been on my radar for quite some time now. I love that they recycle old plastic bottles and remake them into their beautiful bags, purses and backpacks, that are in no way inferior to real leather bags, a quality I still find very hard to find in vegan leather accessories. Plus, they are waterproof! This weekend, Matt & Natt offers 30% off selected items and I am really tempted to go for one of the models below – isn’t the soft grey of this backpack just wonderful?
People Tree – 30% off:
People Tree is one of my most recent discoveries of fashionable and eco-conscious fashion brands. Among more basic stuff and retro-inspired designs for women, men and kids, they also do designer collabs with the likes of Orla Kiely and Peter Jensen. I especially love their Atelier line (as seen below), consisting of minimalist and sophisticated pieces. Given that they are produced entirely fair, their pieces are super affordable – and with over 50% off their Atelier line and 30% off almost everything else this weekend, there is no excuse for choosing ‘made in Bangladesh’ over fair wear.
ASOS – 20% off with code CYBERWKND20:
Next on my list, also a very recent discovery of mine: the ASOS Green Room, a collection of eco-conscious, sustainable and sweatshop-free clothes and accessories available from the British mass-retailer. I especially like their own-brand ‘Reclaimed Vintage’ line, designed from vintage fabrics and entirely made in Britain, at a super reasonable price point and of course as on-trend as they can be. It’s ASOS, trust them, they know what they do ;)
YOOX – 20% off with code MORE20:
What I really love about YOOX, unlike a lot of other online shops and retailers, is that they very often state if an item is made in Europe. As I seem to have a certain talent for scouting and falling in love with only the most expensive items out there, at YOOX I’ve specifically searched their sale section and managed to come out with a list of lovely shoes and bags, all made in Europe and all of them under 200€. Oh, and an extra 20% off until Monday doesn’t sound too bad either, does it?
