It’s definitely no secret to you that I’m quite fond of headpieces – flower crowns, fascinators, cute pillbox hats, turbans, lace cat ears, oversized bows – the more playful and flamboyant the better. I admire Enie van de Meiklokjes for the adorable things she wears on her head all the time, and when I saw her wearing an apple fascinator, I knew I had to have one too. (And by the way: thank god for my fabulous boyfriend who shares my love for Enie and all things out of the ordinary!)
From that day on I was on the hunt for the perfect apple to wear on my head, William Tell style. And then there it was – on Etsy, where else!? The cutest green apple headpiece I had ever seen. It was only a matter of seconds until it was placed in my shopping cart and ordered to be handmade by the lovely Sally of Olive and Betty. It was surprisingly affordable and came with the cutest glittery leaf, a floral lining and the most adorable glittery thank you card (see, that’s how you sell stuff: it’s all in the detail).
The only thing I never thought about when dreaming of the perfect apple headpiece turned out to be the most essential one: What to wear with it? I might have mastered the art of wearing cat ears and girly bow stuff… but an apple? It needed a blank canvas to really shine and not look ridiculous. So the months went by and slowly but surely, piece after piece, the outfit came together… a simple yet detailed white cami dress and my fab Alexander Wang mules, accessorised with simple ear studs and red lips only. I think I managed to pull it off quite well – what do you say? ♥
