Budapest. A wonderful city in East-Central Europe and one of the most interesting places I’ve visited.

We arrived Sunday night, after a day in Vienna, for a short getaway from everyday life. I love discovering new places on my days off! I found Budapest to be a city of contraries: there is wonderful modern architecture and a very impressive and huge historic castle surrounded by its own castle district on a hill, a beautiful and lively market hall, a new and shiny university building. But along the way, you will always find facades and walls that were once beautiful and are now left to degenerate. Behind magnificent bridges you see houses that have required refurbishment for a long time. Despite it being a shame to leave these buildings to decay, this makes for an interesting cityscape and definitely left me impressed and wanting to come back soon.
